Define W/C - CSST

OBJECTIVE

The Define W/C - CSST function is used to create W/C - CSST activities and maintain maximum rates based on the effective date.

The created activities can be associated with project activities in Project Management, with the employee in Employee Management or entered directly using the Enter Hours option.

You can access the Government Tables (Canadian Payroll) or Withholding Tax (U.S.) (U.S. Payroll) by clicking the icons at the top of the screen.

The rates, maximums, project, activity and group defined in Define W/C CSST option are used for W/C-CSST Recognition.

PREREQUISITEs

Steps

Create a W/C - CSST Activity

  1. Click the Insert/modify a W/C - CSST Activity icon.
  2. Enter the required information:

The Configuration icon is used to define entry options for the Code field.

Field

Description

W/C - CSST Activity

Code for the W/C - CSST activity.

Description

Description of the W/C - CSST activity.

Province

Province in which the W/C - CSST activity applies.

NOTE: This field is only visible if the Canadian payroll is installed.

Excess Calculation mode

Linked to the information in the Type column of the W/C - CSST Annual Report.

Calculation Mode

Description

Undetermined

The calculation method is that of the committee, defined in the Work categories of the employee.

NOTE: For a series of employees, if the calculation method differs between 2 employees, the Weekly method is used by default.

Annual

Calculated annually.

Weekly

Calculated weekly.

NOTE: The Annual and Weekly methods apply primarily in cases where the employee has multiple W/C - CSST classes that are calculated annually or weekly.  In doing so, the W/C - CSST annual report must take this into consideration and apply the rules for calculating the excess amounts.

Ancillary Worker

Specifies whether the activity is linked to an ancillary worker.

NOTES: An ancillary worker is a worker who contributes, without directly participating, to more than one activity. For example, a receptionist who answers calls for an employer who makes both rubber and plastic products, which are two different activities.

When this box is checked, the employee's salary is displayed in the Ancillary Worker column of the Pivotal W/C - CSST Analysis, whereas if it's not checked, the salary will be displayed in the Unity column, followed by the CSST code. It allows a user to know the total salary of ancillary workers.

Project

Default project (on the balance sheet) used to populate the W/C CSST.

NOTE: If no projects are defined in the Define W/C - CSST activity, the system will use the project defined in Configuration for Time Management, in the W/C - CSST/Fringe Benefit section, W/C CSST Accounting sub-section.

Activity

Default activity used to populate the W/C CSST.

For example, you can post the W/C CSST by province by creating a separate activity.

NOTE: If no activities are defined in the Define W/C - CSST option, the system will use the activity defined in Configuration for Time Management, in the W/C - CSST/Fringe Benefit section, W/C CSST Accounting sub-section.

Group

Default group used to populate the W/C CSST.

NOTE: As specified for the project and activity, the group for the W/C - CSST activity supersedes Configuration during W/C-CSST Recognition.
